Determinate vs indeterminate

Determinate (“bush”) tomatoes grow to a set size, usually around 1–1.5 m, and ripen most of their fruit over a few weeks — handy for canning and small spaces. Indeterminate (“vining”) tomatoes keep growing and fruiting until frost, often reaching 2 m or more; they need tall stakes or cages and regular tying in, and give a longer harvest. Semi-determinate types sit in between.
